Yayyyy!!! I can't believe we're a little over 3 weeks away from meeting our baby girl!!
This will probably be my final pregnancy post before I deliver (I mean, you can only read so much about my pregnancy, right?!). Hopefully I cover everything that most people are curious about since these are the questions I usually get.
36 Week Appointment
I wasn't feeling well during my last OB visit so I was eager to see her for our appointment this past Tuesday. She's grown so much! Estimated to weigh about 6 pounds 7 ounces - putting her in the 60-something percentile for her gestational age. Although I'm becoming less worried about pushing a heavy baby out, I'm a little more concerned about the size of this girl's head. I forget the exact number but the estimated head size was on the larger end.... this is definitely our child. Haha! Oh, the sonographer also mentioned that she has a ton of hair on that head!
During the appointment, not only did we get to see her moving around in my belly but we were able to see her practice breathing through the ultrasound. It was quite an amazing thing to see. Happy to see her prepping those lungs! :) Another thing we got to witness, that she apparently loves to do, is grab her little feet by her head. She seems to be doing this often when we go for these ultrasound appointments. It makes me laugh every time!
The most exciting news I received was that I am dilated (about the size of a finger tip) and my cervix is about 50% effaced!!! Why is that so exciting?? Because it means things are moving along!!! I won't be going into labor tomorrow or probably in the next week but it's crazy to know that changes are occuring!
Other details:
Sleep - I'm not getting much of it! I'm constantly running to the bathroom throughout the night and she's still pretty active. I usually get a nice wake up call around 5AM these days. Some mornings I'm up before Andy, which is very unusual. (He's actually sleeping while I write this.)
New Symptoms? - I've been feeling pretty great. I do have days when I have low energy but I've also been having small bursts of energy throughout the day. When I have a long day of walking I have a lot of hip and lower back pain but it seems to come and go depending on how much I do. Cleaning the house is no longer happening after this week. I almost died this past weekend trying to mop the house. Cleaning lady, you're hired!
Weight - OK. This is a topic I never really touched on throughout my pregnancy. (Why should a girl talk about her weight?! hehe.) I actually read some really great advice from a book that was given to me early on, 'The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy', and I stuck with that advice until now. In the book, the author suggests to look away from the scale every time you're weighed in at an appointment and to inform the nurse/tech not to mention the # unless there was something to be concerned about. I know myself well enough where I knew that I would become a little obsessive over my weight gain if I kept track so I decided to follow this tip. This way I would focus more on mine & baby's health rather than weight gain. This worked for me and I recommend anyone who's like me about their weight to do the same during their pregnancy! I did work out fairly regularly during the first 8 months so it helped me from thinking about it too much. This last month, I did decide to give it up and enjoy what is left of pregnancy. Anyway, I finally looked at the scale & I've gained about 25-27 pounds. I probably would be around 30+ but I lost weight when I was sick last month and now I'm gaining weight back. Knowing I had lost weight, it was comforting to see that Baby Kim still continued to gain weight! :)
What am I doing these days to keep myself busy? Well, I already went though the nesting phase (maybe I still am). Andy has been great about working with my OCD to keep everything clean and organized. I've continued to work at the middle school on base substitute teaching and will continue to do so until I feel my body/baby tells me otherwise. I've picked up sewing on a sewing machine so I've been going a little crazy thinking of projects for myself. Made a baby cap & headband the other day.
I'm looking forward to... my 38 week check up & having this baby!!! Keep us in your prayers!!
Here's a quick ultrasound picture from our appointment! Hopefully the next baby update will be a picture of her after delivery! :D

Quick Update for those not on FB
In the past year, I've attempted to learn how to sew on a sewing machine but the antique one I got was a piece of junk so I gave it up for awhile. Recently a friend of ours, Jenelle, sent some handmade gifts which made me want to learn again before Baby Kim's arrival. My entire life I've always depending on my mom to sew things for me - even last year I got her to hem a dress while I was in town visiting! hah. It's about time that I learn, especially since we're having a girl. I picked up an inexpensive but new sewing machine earlier this week and started hammering away. It was like night and day from trying to learn on a German antique sewing machine to a modern one! It's so much easier than I thought!
Here's Baby Kim's first dress handmade by Mommy!! :) Perfect outfit for her fall arrival.
